Producer Carmen Armendáriz is shaking up the world of telenovelas again with her latest production, titled "Mi rival," an intense and provocative story that moves away from traditional melodramas. In an exclusive interview with Publimetro, the producer stated that her goal is to bet on different narratives that can connect with new audiences, describing the theme as "very strong" compared to what is usually seen on television. The main plot presents a conflict on the edge: a mother and her daughter face each other for the love of the same man, which triggers a series of betrayals and desperate decisions. Armendáriz highlighted that although the story is risky, it has had an excellent reception in markets such as the United States, demonstrating that the public is looking for different content. The production features a first-class love triangle led by Sebastián Rulli, Alejandra Barros, and Ela Velden. In addition to these established figures, the series serves as a launch platform for new talents: it marks the debut of Patricio Pous (in production) and Nico Pous, both grandsons of the producer. It represents the acting launch of Alex Figueroa, son of the renowned entertainment journalist Martha Figueroa. The story, already available on the ViX platform, consists of 52 episodes filmed entirely in locations in San Luis Potosí. Carmen Armendáriz chose this state due to her previous experience filming María Félix's series there, highlighting the cinematographic aesthetic of the place, the absence of cables in the streets, and the warmth of its people, which facilitated a harmonious and conflict-free working environment among the cast. With a mix of experience and new faces, "Mi rival" is positioned as one of the riskiest and freshest bets of the year.
